65: AGING INTO MEDICARE - YOU MUST BE AWARE OF MEDICARE DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS
Begin conversations with HR: Notify human resources of your intentions to retire in a year or six months so they can start making appropriate transition plans. Confirm any unused vacation or sick leave time and understand how that can be monetized at retirement, or plan on using these days.
At this point you are so close you can feel the excitement of the next chapter of your life. It is a great time to look for additional ways to reduce your spending and expenses. Make sure to check for significant dates such as Medicare or Social Security enrollment.
